Analytical Approach of Designing Passive Filter for SMPS Load

The use of switch mode power supply (SMPS) load such as computer, laptop, etc in residential well commercial areas give rise to harmonics pollution the electrical distribution system which causes quality poor and function equipment connected is affected. Many appliances have an SMPS design that characteristically draws a distorted current flows back input distortion voltage waveform. To ensure safe functioning various devices, there need for implementation effective mitigating techniques. Passive filters been used harmonics. This paper proposed analytical approach designing passive filter instead trial error or complex mitigation. Simulation Model developed MATLAB/Simulink validating approach. results show attractive findings harmonic mitigation with improvement factor.
